 HELL

The northern coast of Grand Cayman has a place called Hell. Its mysteriously shaped lime rock formations give an eerie feeling to the visitors, and send you a tinge of horror and excitement. In the year 1962 Hell disclosed its district post office for the enthusiasts who wanted to send a postcard back home from the Hell office. Printed in bright red a devil resident distributes humor along with mementos. The shape and the atmosphere around this place is enough to give you chills and horror beyond all your regular excitements. There is a strong pathway where you can easily walk and stare at the mesmerizing hell rocks.

TRAIL ON THE MASTIC RESERVE

Mastic trail is a popular tourist place that extends to 2.3 miles. An experienced guide  can take you for a walk for about two or two and a half hours. The walk enthusiasts can get an opportunity to feel the enthralling exploration deep inside the wild interiors of Cayman. It is an area where the woody land has developed without any human inference since the last two million years. Schools arrange picnics to this place and also other native organizations come here for a hike through prior bookings. This place has bagged the first place in the annual Ecotourism Award competition.
On a important note, this trail is not suitable for children under six years for old people, people suffering from heart disease and pregnant ladies. You have to go on your own risk because the Trust or company would not take any responsibility of sudden injuries.

PEDRO ST. JAMES NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE

Driving east to the George town for about 20 minutes would lead you to Pedro st James National Historic Site which is the abode to a restored plantation house of 18th century called the Pedro castle. It is one of the most ancient buildings on the island with a 3 storey structure built with stone and is the “Birthplace of Democracy in the Cayman Islands.” This place witnessed the decision to build the nation’s first elected parliament in 1831. At present it is the restored house where you can travel and gain knowledge about its past while watching a 3D multimedia presentation in the theater.

CAMANA BAY 

The Bay of Camana promises you a Stress free family holiday and allows you to visually relish the waterfront lawns, taste local delicacies and buy your favorite goods to your heart’s content. It is a real paradise for people who want to walk around, shop, play and relax after a long day’s hike. Broadened over 685 acres, it makes you hear the sound of sea waves along with modernist music mix using connectivity. Walking pathways, property and diversification through its alluring designs are quite an eye-catcher. If you are on the seven mile beach just walk along the footpath signs kept across the West Bay road. It would help you to reach faster.  There is a pedestrian pathway that would take you to The Passe in the Town Centre.

CAYMAN TURTLE CENTRE

Yet another major attraction for all age groups is the Cayman turtle centre. It is a research and breeding farm keeping two major species of sea-turtles and ample number of endangered Kemp’s Idler sea turtles. It is the sweet abode of turtles where they are nurtured and raised for local consumption to eradicate the illegal poaching activities in local sea waters. It is also a safety centre for sending turtles back to the wild. You will see them floating gently in the wading pools and touch tanks and if possible you would be able to take a snap while holding a baby turtle in your hands and kissing them to show your love. Apart from these gentle species, the Smiley’s saltwater lake Lagoon is a residence to a gigantic nine-feet saltwater crocodile. It is the rarest of the rare species that was first found in island waters in mid 1950s.

BUTTERFLY GARDEN AT CAYMAN TURTLE CENTRE

Touring with butterflies is also an exotic idea for people. The butterfly garden at Cayman’s turtle centre beckons the oncoming butterfly breeding season and also hails many migrant butterflies. It is a place of educational visits as kids can learn a lot more important stuff about this beautiful creatures.
Best time to visit this place is late mornings as the sun brightens up and to see the cold blooded insects you come at early afternoons when the temperature descends.
